A CARE Quality Commission inspection of Salisbury Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has revealed that it requires improvement.

However, Healthwatch Wiltshire, the independent body that aims to improve healthcare services in the county, is encouraged that the trust, used by many Warminster residents, was rated as ‘good’ for caring and that the staff were described as ‘kind, compassionate and committed’.

A total of 70 per cent of acute hospital trusts that have been inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) have been found to require improvement across the country.

A spokesperson for Healthwatch Wiltshire said: “We know that the trust still has work to do in some areas in order to meet the standards set by the CQC and we are reassured by the trust that comprehensive action plans are already in place to address some of these areas.

“Our knowledge of the culture and commitment of the organisation and its staff gives us confidence that they will deliver the required improvements.

“Healthwatch Wiltshire has already offered their assistance to the Trust in achieving this aim. We will continue to talk to, and monitor the progress of SFT over the coming months.”
