NEARLY 200 runners embarked on the first ever Dilton Dash race on Sunday (May 15) and enjoyed the warm temperatures around the multi-terrain course.

The event, organised by Redfish Events, included a 3km and 10km race, which both took runners on a scenic route through the village and surrounding area.

Organiser Tracey Hyde said: “It went really well overall. There were a few minor teething problems but that’s to be expected with a first event.

“We had so much positive feedback afterwards with people saying the route was lovely and that it was a tough race, which is what we wanted.

“Planning the route was the easy part as it’s one that we like to take quite frequently, but it was quite stressful in the weeks leading up to the event making sure everything was in place.

“Now that it’s over, we’ve got a number of other events lined up for the year ahead including a Curry and Auction Night, a black tie event and hopefully another race.”

All money raised from the race, which so far stands at around £500, will go towards the village’s playing field.

Redfish Events was started up in December 2015 by business partners Tracey Hyde and Adam Firks, who set it up to organise events in the local area.

Miss Hyde added: “We want to thank and congratulate all the runners who took part in the first Dilton Dash, it was a fantastic effort by all.

“We also want to thank the paramedics, marshals, family and friends for all their help, we couldn't have done it without them, and to our sponsors including Leighton Sports Centre, Weston Skip Hire, Mirage Signs and Gompels Healthcare.”

Redfish Event’s next event is a Curry and Auction Night at the Leigh Park Community Centre on Friday, June 3, with all proceeds going to the Fire Fighter’s Charity and the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
