THE increasingly popular six-piece Ferocious Dog will be performing at this year’s Village Pump Festival in Westbury.

Ferocious Dog offer a full-on sound that encompasses folk infused with rock, reggae with Celtic influences. The combination of instruments creates a palette of sound that offers infinite variations: going in hard to get the audience up and moving, or slipping into melodic passages and dub-like fusions.

They have become renowned for bringing energy and passion to each of their gigs whilst always welcoming the crowd to join in – making the evening feel like a huge party.

The climax of their new album tour saw them sell out Rock City in Nottingham in advance – the first time in the 35-year history of the venue that an unsigned band has achieved this feat.

As well as touring the country in spring and autumn, festival headline slots littered the summer months – not to mention an appearance on Billy Bragg’s Left Field Stage at this year’s Glastonbury, drawing one of the biggest ever crowds to this stage.

Joining them at the festival are the likes of Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin, a folk duo taking the genre by storm, as well as Martin Simpson and Don Flemons, The Phil Beer Band, O’Hooley and Tidow, and headliners The Proclaimers.

Clive Woodland, one of the festival organisers, said: “We’re really looking forward to this year’s festival and are expecting a wide range of people to come to go with the wide range of musical acts on offer.

“Over the years we’ve noticed that more young people are attending. It’s always nice to see a wide range of ages enjoying the festival.

“Aside from the music there are stalls selling goods, workshops, sessions, open mics, yoga, tai chi, and the Village Pump choir, which will give opportunities for anyone who wants to do more than just watch.”
