A WESTBURY teenager has spent two days of his school holidays repairing the damage he caused in the car park at The Angel Mill, Edward Street.
Police received a report on August 8 regarding anti-social behaviour in the area including graffiti, some of which contained offensive words, which had appeared in the area earlier that day.
A community resolution was agreed by the owner of the property affected and on August 10 and 11, the teenager painted over the graffiti, which needed two coats of paint.
PC Charly Chilton said: "We will not tolerate any vandalism or anti-social behaviour in the town and I hope this incident sends a clear message out to anyone thinking of committing a similar offence.
"I am pleased that in this incident, as a result of enquiries carried out by PCSO Neil Turnbull, we were able to locate the offender and through restorative justice, the youth responsible was able to fix the damage he had caused.
"Resolutions like this offer us the discretion to deal with certain offences in a way that satisfies the victim and allows the offender to make a direct apology. I am confident that the boy has learnt a valuable lesson.
"With the help of the community, I hope we can reduce incidents of this nature and encourage people to appreciate and respect the area they live in."
