WESTBURY'S most iconic building is about to receive a major upgrade after funding for maintenance work was approved.
Westbury Town Council approved the total expenditure of £18,730, recommended by the Laverton Institute Trust Management Working Group, at a council meeting on Monday, September 5.
The money will be used to carry out extensive redecorating work inside and outside the building.
Lilly Bale, marketing and development manager at The Laverton, said: "The last time refurbishment work was carried out was five years ago, so this is important.
"This isn't a full refurbishment but is instead just a case of redecorating.
"The reason it costs that much is because work is going to be carried out on the exterior of the building, which has never happened before.
"Windows are beginning to rot away, so if the work isn't carried out now it will only become more expensive."
Work is expected to begin soon.
