SAFETY is paramount for the demolition and organisers are urging people to watch on from a safe location.

Tarmac are encouraging members of the public to observe the historic spectacle from the White Horse viewing area, where a commentary on the event will take place.

With the railway line being in close proximity to the chimney, the blast is taking place early in the morning to avoid any disruption to train services and no GWR trains will be affected.

But Network Rail, who own the track, have sent out a safety warning ahead of the blast.

A spokesperson said: “The preparation work for the controlled explosion has been ongoing for months and Network Rail have been aware of the plans throughout.

"We urge those wishing to view the controlled explosion to do so from a safe distance and to not trespass onto Network Rail property as it is extremely dangerous.”

The use of drones is not permitted as they may interfere with the demolition process but people who want to take photographs or video the demolition will be able to do so.
