STAFF at Foxhaven Stables, located in Lower Westbury Road, are fearing for the safety of their horses ahead of the chimney demolition on Sunday morning.

The family-run stables is home to eight horses including race horses and rescued horses.

Emma Watson, whose mum owns the stables, said: “There has been a lack of information, we feel. We have been on standby for a long time waiting to hear exact details so that we can plan ahead.

“We are extremely close to the chimney and want to know how well the dust will be contained as it could very likely be toxic due to the nature of the former cement works.

“We are not sure whether to leave the horses out or keep them in. Our fear is that the noise will scare them, which could cause a big problem.

“When horses get scared it is better for them to be outside so that they can run, but we are worried about the dust, so we face a big dilemma on where to put them on the morning of the demolition.

“The road closures in the morning will make it difficult for us to travel there so we’re going to have to camp overnight to make sure we’re there.

“We also have a vet on standby in case the horses lose their minds when it comes down.”

Cuddy Group, who are overseeing the site, have previously said that the dust cloud should be minimal and that measures are in place to reduce the amount of dust following the blast.
