THE decision on whether to build 58 houses on the former Westbury Hospital site will be determined at a meeting on Wednesday (September 28).

Wiltshire Council planners delayed the decision at a meeting on Wednesday, August 10, so that they could visit the site before making up their minds.

Following the visit to the site, in The Butts, councillors from across Wiltshire are expected to bring an end to the drawn out saga.

Erica Watson, chairman of the STOP campaign group, said: “I think they will finally make a decision on Wednesday.

“Hopefully, once councillors have been to the site, they will appreciate that the access is far from ideal.

“I also hope they have taken our two traffic surveys into account, which highlight how long it takes to the station already in Westbury and parking issues at the station.”

The meeting starts at 3pm in the County Chamber of County Hall in Bythesea Road, Trowbridge.
