MEMBERS of a Wiltshire-based pole fitness club raised over £1,000 for Cancer Research UK by taking part in an obstacle course race.

The Pretty Muddy 5k took place at Bath Racecourse on Sunday, September 18.

The 13-strong team, led by Sarah Williams, consisted of instructors and members of Pole-Da-Cise, which has bases in Melksham and Westbury.

Mrs Williams said: “I chose to take part in this event in memory of my mother, who passed away to breast cancer 10 years ago, and decided to get other members involved.

“All the girls in the team have been affected by cancer in some way, including the recent diagnosis of one of our own members.

“The race was a really good fun; we started together and crossed the line together.”

Pole-Da-Cise also organises an annual charity show, which is now in its 11th year and will take place on Saturday, October 15 at the Westbury White Horse Country Park.

Last year’s event raised nearly £5,000 and Pole-Da-Cise hope to make this year’s event another big success.

Mrs Williams said: “This year we will be raising money for the Forever Friends Appeal and supporting the Bath Royal United Hospital’s Cancer Unit.”

Tickets cost £10 each and are available to purchase directly from Pole-Da-Cise classes or from studio owner, Charlotte, who can be contacted on 07722 603115.
