CHILDREN in Westbury have been terrified by youths wearing sinister clown masks looking into their home.
Over the weekend of October 14 and 15, police officers in the town received several calls about youths behaving anti-socially.
At around 8.45pm on Saturday, police seized a clown mask from an 11-year-old boy who was wearing it and staring into the window of a house in Pinto Walk, Westbury - terrifying three children inside.
He was stopped by a member of the public until officers arrived.
His parents were called and the youth was given words of advice before being left in the care of his parents.
The clown mask was then confiscated.
The craze for pranksters wearing 'killer clown' outfits has spread from America.
PC Christopher Cook said: "We would like to remind people intent on engaging in this type of behaviour that your actions can cause fear and anxiety to people, which could lead to public order offences being committed.
"In turn, this could lead to a criminal record. Please think about your actions carefully. Any reports of offences committed will be fully investigated."
