WESTBURY mayor Stephen Andrews has selected the 12 winning photographs which will make up this year’s ‘Wonderful Westbury’ Christmas calendar.

Cllr Andrews invited budding photographers in the area to submit their photographs of the town looking its best to be used in the festive calendar.

It will go on sale next week at £7 and will raise money for Cllr Andrews’ chosen charities for this year, which are Carer Support and Welfare of the Elderly.

He said: “I was very happy with the quality of the photographs which were sent in. Choosing the final 12 photographs was very difficult.

“The pictures make the town look wonderful, which was the idea behind the calendar.

“There are of course quite a few of the White Horse, but that was to be expected as it’s such an iconic landmark.

“I was slightly disappointed that there weren’t any entries from children aged 11 and under, especially considering it was circulated around the local primary schools.”

The 12 winning entrants will be given a £20 Argos voucher for their triumph.

Keith Harvey’s photograph will feature on January while Wayne Clayton’s shot will finish the calendar off in December.

Other winners include Andrew Leech, Jim Wilson, Tiffany Crockford, Jamie Harper, Martin Honor, Philip Alford, Kate Grant, Russ Chant, John Osborne, Madeleine Jordan and Alan Swan.

They will be presented with their prizes, which were donated by local businesses, at the Calendar and Christmas Card Exhibition, which will be held at the Laverton on Saturday, November 12.
