STAFF and residents at The Westbury Residential & Nursing Home have been admiring an impressive display in honour of Remembrance Day.

The artwork was created by local volunteer John after the Bupa owned home decided to go one step further than having a traditional poppy garden like many other residential homes.

The display was installed in the residential home two weeks ago after many days of working around the clock to get the project finished.

Residents at the home also got involved in the making of it by taking part in several craft sessions in which they made their own poppies.

They then laid their poppies on the model cenotaph as they held a Remembrance Day service on November 11.

Maria Richards, activities co-ordinator at the nursing home, said: “The residents have really loved having the display up and been quite taken aback by it.

“They really loved making the poppies for it.

“Although we must start getting ready for Christmas now, we really don’t want to take it down.”

In addition to the staff and residents at the home, visitors have also been dropping in to see the moving display and to learn more about it.
