MEMBERS of Westbury Lions club have been rewarded for all of their hard work within the local community.

The Club Excellence Award was presented to president Phil Harris and the rest of the Westbury Lions at their November meeting in the United Reformed Church Hall in Warminster Road. The award marked the growth of the club as well as the hours of hard work put in to benefit Westbury.

Nigel Coward, member of Westbury Lions, said: “It was great for the club. The award isn’t something that is handed out willy nilly, it is given to clubs based on their performance. In the past two or three years the club has expanded and engaged with the community. We found out that we would be receiving the award in our October meeting but it wasn’t until our November one that we received it.”

The Lions club has been extending its reach to other members of the Westbury community with the recent formation of the Westbury Leos club, based at Matravers School.

“It feels very good to receive the award, it is very nice to see all of the hard work being recognised. Westbury Lions has always been a club that others look to for ideas. I think receiving this award backs that up in a lot of ways. We have a number of exciting things coming up over the next couple months so the work doesn’t stop here,” added Mr Coward.

The Westbury Lions is a non-profit charity organisation which raises money for causes in its local area.
