A WESTBURY dad who claims his family is living in ‘Third World conditions’ is fed up with Selwood Housing, the company which owns his property.

Michael Edwards, who has epilepsy, lives in a house in Eden Vale, with his 28-year-old partner Laura Player and son William, who was recently diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.

He said his his family's needs have been neglected because Selwood Housing will not repair his windows, which drip from the inside.

“The windows drip with water from the inside every morning which isn’t helping our condition. Selwood Housing don’t care about us and won’t repair them,” he said.

“Every morning I have to wipe away the moisture with a cloth and it feels damp in the air throughout the day.

"My son has Type 1 diabetes now and I don't think the water in the air is helping."

Mr Edwards also said his family needs to be visited regularly by a social worker.

He added: "We’re not getting the support we need.

“When William was diagnosed with diabetes a social worker came round but was not helpful at all.

“She had a look around before saying she wouldn’t be coming again and since then nobody has been round. We would like them to come regularly.

“They have simply quit and walked out on my family.”

A spokesperson for Selwood Housing said: “We are sorry to hear that one of our tenants is unhappy with their windows.

“We encourage all of our customers to call us to report repairs on 01225 715715 or email repairs@selwoodhousing.com so we can sort out any issues promptly and professionally.

“On this occasion we have not received a call from our tenant to tell us that they have an issue. We will now work with them to resolve this as quickly as possible.

“We have already surveyed our properties at Eden Vale Road, Westbury as part of our commitment to our customers and have found that some of the windows are in need of replacement.

“As a result, some of our homes in this road are set to have their windows replaced by the end of this financial year, ending March 2017.”
