TRAINS between Castle Cary and Westbury are expected to return to normal tomorrow morning.

Services between the two stations have been heavily disrupted since a freight train derailed on Monday, with replacement buses being put on for passengers and the high speed London service taking a diverted route via Bristol.

A Network Rail spokesman said work is expected to be completed by 10pm tonight and the normal timetable will resume tomorrow following a test run.

It was reported that 38 wagons had to be removed from the track but there were no injuries sustained in the incident.

An investigation is currently under way to determine the cause of the derailment, but the findings are not likely to be known for a few weeks.
