FAIRFIELD Farm College has been transformed into a yarn bombing paradise thanks to two women who have knitted more than 1,000 woolly decorations.

Since last week, the Dilton Marsh college, for students with learning disabilities, has looked unrecognisable thanks to Lynne Vercoe and Penny Hill, who have adorned the place with knitted flowers, lamp shades, coat stands, butterflies, sheep, and a knitted hen.

Passers-by have marvelled at the transformation – a colourful addition to the Wylye Valley art trail.

Mrs Vercoe said her and Mrs Hill wanted to do something for the college and despite it taking about two years to knit the hundreds of woolly creations, they both agreed the result was well worth the effort.

"It has just been wonderful seeing people grinning ear to ear. People have been amazed by it all and we are so happy it has paid off," said Mrs Vercoe.

"Some of the students have seen it and they have just loved it.

"We will take it down next week. We plan on assembling all the squares we have made into blankets to give to the homeless and people overseas who need them too."
