A DONATION of £750 is going to Dorothy House Hospice Care after staff at a cheese and dairy business in Westbury challenged their colleagues in London to a rowing race.

During health and safety week at Savencia Fromage & Dairy in Brook Lane, the Westbury team went to head to head with staff in Hampton, London, to see which office could complete the most miles on rowing machines.

Together, the staff rowed more than 230km, but it was the Westbury team who came out on top, beating their London counterparts by just a handful of miles.

Thanks to their fundraising efforts, the Winsley charity is now £750 better off.

"We had a great time over the week and it was a good team challenge," said production manager Steve Snook.

"We have raised a good amount for a wonderful cause and we have also come out on top against our London rivals which is great.

"I wanted to win and so did our team here. It is clear the Hampton lot were found wanting. We all got together to discuss what charity would be chosen and Dorothy House came out on top. It is a great charity, which does brilliant work and we are very happy to help out."
