Students at Matravers school celebrated the end of term with their fourth annual M-fest last week.

Described as a mini Glastonbury, both teachers and students look forward to the event which hosts live performances, competitions and games.

The event is a celebration and reward for the students for their hard work and success during the academic year, and primary school children from the area also went along to get in on the fun.

Michelle Drewitt, Acting Assistant Headteacher at Matravers said: “M-fest is a fantastic way to round of the school year in celebration and to reward our students for their hard work and success this academic year.

“The celebrations included a wide range of outstanding musical performances from Matravers students which were thoroughly enjoyed by staff and students both from Matravers and our feeder primary schools.”

Performances from supporting act Rich Cottell, a musician from Devon, and headline act Jash were a big hit.

The students also enjoyed performances from year 7 to 10 pupils, who proudly demonstrated their talents such as singing and dancing.

There was a very memorable performance from the staff band, the reformed One Detention.

Each tutor group also demonstrated their creativity whilst competing in the banner competition.

They created their own banner based on this year’s theme, Matravers thought of the week, including thinking about caring for others, resilience, remembrance, friendship and respect, and national Shakespeare week.

Head teacher Dr Riding selected tutor group 9.1 as overall winners with a creative banner based on the national Shakespeare week theme.

Other activities included inflatable total wipe out assault courses and classic fairground stalls such as hit the coconut.

It certainly saw the year go out with a bang.
