MANY people gathered for the annual mayor’s civic service held by Westbury mayor Cllr Gordon King at All Saints Church on Sunday (October 29) afternoon.

The service was attended by ten mayors and deputies from other towns, as well as the high sheriff of Wiltshire Lady Penny Marland and the leader of Wiltshire Council Cllr Alison Bucknell.

They all met at The Laverton at 2.45pm before parading down to the church for the service at 3pm.

Westbury mayor Cllr Gordon King said: “The importance of the civic service is to give great thanks to everyone in the town who have taken part in civic activities over the year, whether this has been with charities or other organisations.

“These people are the do-ers of the town, and are very important to the town’s present and future.”

A choir from Matravers School in Westbury performed at the service and the mayor’s cadet, Cdt Joe Sibley 68 Westbury Squadron, was presented with his cadet’s badge.
