A WOMAN running the London marathon in memory of her nephew has raised over £500 for Children’s Hospice South West at a curry and quiz night at the Cinnamon Lounge, Westbury last week.

Carlene Clarke from Trowbridge is running the London Marathon next April to raise money for the charity after her nephew Connor died from terminal cancer, and 60 people supported her by taking part in the fundraising night on November 14.

The Cinnamon Lounge put together a set menu of poppadoms with chutneys, mixed starters, followed by a main of mixed curries with rice, naan bread and various sides. The cost of the evening was £15 per person and this included food and entry to the quiz.

Mrs Clarke said: "I can’t thank everyone enough for the support they have given me, to help raise money for a charity which is really close to my heart. The hospice supported us when my nephew Connor was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

"I’d also really like to thank Sufi and his team at The Cinnamon Lounge for helping us host such a great night. We had so many compliments about the food."

Sufi, manager of the Cinnamon Lounge, said: “It was a fantastic night and it was good to see so many people enjoying themselves while making money for a good cause.

"We are always happy to put on events like this, as it is great to help support local charities.”

The Cinnamon Lounge also held a Poppy Curry Lunch to raise money for the Royal British Legion around remembrance day.
