VOLUNTEERS at Barnardo's charity shop in Westbury are urging parents and children to tidy out their toy boxes ahead of Christmas.

With the festive season coming up and families clearing out old toys to make room for new ones, volunteers want to remind people to donate them to a charity shop rather than throwing them away with their tidy out the toy box campaign.

The shop welcomes donations of toys, puzzles, board games, books, CDs and DVDs in good condition.

Volunteer Margaret Samways said: "We would love for people to bring their unwanted toys here, Barnardo's is a brilliant cause and you would be helping to bring joy to other families at Christmas.

Heather Cosser, also a volunteer at the shop said: "The joy on parents' faces when they find a lovely Christmas present for their child which they can afford is just lovely.

"Some families may not be able to afford expensive gifts, so ours are priced low but are also in good condition, we check it all before putting it out.

"To be able to find a bargain at Christmas and help the charity is a great thing to do."

The Barnardo's charity shop in Palomino Place in Westbury is open Monday-Saturday 9am-5.30pm and on Sunday from 10am-4pm.
