IT was a stressful 24 hours for a Westbury couple who were forced to rearrange their wedding due to the snow, but despite the odds pulled off the perfect wedding day.

Dave and Debbie Hickory knew their relatives were going to struggle to make it to the Tin Church at Brookerswood for their wedding on Saturday (March 3)after the snow fell heavily at the end of last week, so took the bold decision to push the wedding back to Sunday, and changed the venue to All Saints Church in Westbury.

The couple secured March 3 as their wedding date over a year ago when they got engaged in February 2017, but never imagined they would have to postpone it due to extreme weather conditions.

Mrs Hickory said: “When it got to Friday morning we started to get a bit worried about whether our friends and family would be able to make the wedding, as the tin chapel is down a few country roads.

“It was a hard decision to make but we decided to postpone it as we didn’t want our families to miss it.

“We were unable to have the wedding in the tin church on the Sunday, but we could have it in All Saints Church so we jumped at the opportunity.

“We made about 50 phone calls to guests, as well as the DJ, hairdresser, photographer and everyone, luckily they were able to reschedule

“We were so pleased that everything came together in the end and we had an absolutely amazing day.

“Originally we were only having 60 guests to the ceremony, but when we had to change the date and the venue we said whoever can make it can come and the church was full.”

Mr Hickory said: “It was very stressful rearranging it all last minute but it was so worth it. We had an incredible day.

“The support we had from everyone was amazing.”

Mr and Mrs Hickory are now spending a week in Malta on their honeymoon.
