A FORMER Barnardo's volunteer has returned to the charity as manager of the Westbury store.

Angie Devereux has returned to her roots in her new position, after she was a volunteer at the charity’s Frome shop in the 1990s before running her own business.

Now she hopes to build on the success of the Westbury store and establish it in the local community.

She said: “I applied for Barnardo’s as I have a great fondness for the charity and wanted to do something which was meaningful and made a difference to people’s lives, and I’d recently volunteered at the Westbury store so I already knew about the amazing volunteers and customers.

“Looking to the future, I’d like to strengthen the feeling of community. I’m particularly keen to build relationships with local churches and other organisations.

“I’d also like to welcome more volunteers of all ages and backgrounds. Every hour of support is sincerely appreciated.

“Most of all, I want everyone including staff, volunteers, donors and shoppers to enjoy their time here.”

The Barnardo’s store in Palomino Place is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm and on Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
