Improved internet speeds coming to Trowbridge

Virgin Media customers in Trowbridge will be able to take advantage of improved internet servcies as the company increase their speeds in the area.

They are increasing their speeds to 120MB which will allow users to download a full music album in 4.4 seconds and a high definition film in around five minutes.

The fast internet access supports the Government’s ambition to ensure people across the country can access the best broadband in Europe by 2015.

Jon James, executive director of broadband at Virgin Media, said: “Virgin Media has driven the development of faster broadband in the UK and we’re delighted to be boosting our customers’ speeds in Trowbridge once again.

“Following our Double Speeds programme, all our customers will be super fast as standard and ready to make the most of all the incredible digital entertainment services that exist now and will in the future. By continuing to give our customers faster speeds and greater value services, we’re committed to providing our customers the best broadband in the UK.”

Old news....The faster internet speeds were activated last month. Note that people who were on 100mb will NOT have double speeds, they will get upgraded to 120mb. Also, the times quoted for downloads are "best times" and may not pan out in practice.

listening to Virgin anyone would think life depended on fast broadband. why would i want a cd in 4.4seconds when i cant order bread, ham, cheese and biscuits so quickly - when are the supermarkets going to get the food to you as quickly still have to wait or go all the way to a shop to get it.
all superfast broadband does is create impatience.
