Recycling old materials into wildlife funds
12:46pm Friday 4th January 2013 in Wiltshire
A direct mail and printing company, based in the south of Wiltshire, has helped Wiltshire Wildlife Trust to raise more than £12,000.
Mail and Print, in Berw-ick St Leonard, has a recycling programme where it segregates used materials and bulk sends them to recycling units. In return, the firm gets revenue which is given to charity.
Wiltshire Wildlife Trust used the £1,000 generated by the recycling and divided it, to make three cash prizes in its 50th anniversary raffle.
Through the sale of raffle tickets, it managed to raise £12,370.
Mail and Print’s owner and managing director, Martyn Harvey, said: “It makes good sense to have a recycling policy and the proceeds always go to charity, but I was amazed when our donation raised so much money.”
Mr Harvey advises other companies to look into recycling options. He is hoping the firm will raise enough in 2013 to pay to have a defibrillator installed at its rural base.
