Grants of up to £2,000 for volunteers

Volunteer groups and community organisations are being invited to apply for financial help from a £2m charitable fund.

From Monday, the Midcounties Co-operative is encouraging groups to apply for grants of up to £2,000 that benefit local good causes.

Midcounties Co-operative makes grants to its members twice a year, in the spring and autumn.

Maxine Sharman, head of community engage-ment, said: “As a member-owned business working closely with the community in the areas where we trade, we wish to help voluntary and community organisations who share our values and provide services locally.”

The deadline for submissions is February 8.

A judging panel meets in April to decide who receives funding.

The grants are issued to groups who provide a range of services and assist the local community.

I wish you so-called professional reporters would do some basic research before you publish. These grants aren't available to people living in Wiltshire - only Swindon.
