The new Bishop of Ramsbury has visited children in Broughton Gifford, to teach them about his role.

Dr Edward Condry was appointed Bishop last June and came to St Mary’s Primary School in the village on Wednesday, to speak to the pupils.

Headteacher Angela McAuley said: “He has a lovely manner and was very easy with the children.

“He came in to get to know us and explain to the children what his job was all about.

“He dressed one of the children up with his mitre, staff, and his ring of office, as a sign of his Christian role.

“The children asked him lots of different questions. They really warmed to him.”

The title of Bishop of Ramsbury dates back to the time of Aethel-stan of Ramsbury, who took on the clerical role in 909AD.
