The body of Trowbridge man Ivan Saunders was found in a woodland area near Bath on Friday night.

Builder Mr Saunders, 65, was reported to Wiltshire Police as missing after he was last seen at his home in The Conigre on Wednesday last week.

His VW Transporter van was found on Friday parked in the car park of a pub in Newton St Loe, near where his body was discovered.

An inquest into the death of Mr Saunders is expected to be opened and adjour-ned by the Avon and Somerset coroner today. Police are not treating his death as suspicious.

Mr Saunders grew up in Bath and enjoyed travelling before settling down in Wiltshire.

He and wife Maggie were married for 30 years and had two daughters Emily, 33, and Leah, 30.

Emily said her parents were a devoted couple and loved each other dearly.

Mr Saunders had a love of motorbikes and music from the 1960s and 1970s, in particular the band Santana.

After he was reported missing Wiltshire Police carried out an extensive search to find him.

Mr Saunders’ funeral will be held at Haycombe Crematorium chapel, in Bath, at 4.15pm on Friday, January 25. His family have asked that anyone wishing to leave floral tributes contacts the chapel.
