Wiltshire brews up coffee morning fundraiser
Hundreds of coffee mornings will be taking place across the region today raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is the charity’s biggest fundraiser and sees a variety of venues holding events.
Yesterday Karen Mander, of Hargreaves Road, Trowbridge, opened up her home to the public with a coffee morning which raised over £200.
As well as a variety of drinks there were cakes on sale, along with jewellery, handbags and crafts.
There was also a raffle running which received donations from local businesses while balloon artist Dave Hickory was entertaining guests.
Mrs Mander said: “It has been fantastic and a really well attended event with friends and neighbours coming down to show their support. We are so pleased to raise funds in aid of such a worthy cause.”
Some of the cakes at Mrs Mander’s coffee morning were donated by Holt-based baker Beth Al-Rikabi who completed a 24 hour bakeathon on Wednesday.
Events running today include, David Wilson Homes holding a coffee gathering at The Gateway, Snowberry Lane, in Melksham, between 10.30am and 3pm.
The Hop Pole Inn, Limpley Stoke, will host a coffee morning at 10.30am.
Westbury mayor David Windess will be staging a fundraiser in The Laverton between 10am and noon.
While, The Farmhouse Inn, Southwick, will serve coffee, tea and homemade cakes from 9am until noon.
