Last month was the wettest December in Wiltshire for 24 years, according to Steeple Ashton-based amateur weatherman Geoff Witts.
He recorded a total of 141.8mm of rainfall for the month, a substantial increase on the 80.5mm average for the last 63 years.
Although starting dry, severe storms at the end of the year made December the wettest month since November 2002, with a maximum of 18.5mm falling on December 18.
However the wettest day of the whole year came on July 29, when 42.8mm fell.
The coldest day was March 13, with a recorded temperature of -5.2, while the warmest was July 22 with 31.6.
Snow was recorded on 13 separate days of the year.
