Consumer group Which? has awarded top slot in its annual energy company satisfaction survey to Chippenham-based Good Energy for the third year in a row.

The Which? survey covered customers’ views on customer service, value for money, accuracy and clarity of bills, complaints and energy saving – and Good Energy scored a five star rating in each category.

Good Energy achieved an overall customer score of 82 per cent, putting it in joint first place with another green energy company, Ecotricity.

“We’re obviously over the moon with this news as it shows how consistent we’ve been at delivering good customer service having been top over the last three years,” said Good Energy chief executive and founder, Juliet Davenport OBE

"This is good news for us, but more importantly, for our customers.

“It is also great to see that we’re sharing first place with another independent green energy provider, demonstrating that it is possible to be small and still deliver green energy and an excellent customer experience.

“We know that one of the big reasons why customers are loathe to switch providers is that they think all energy companies are the same – this survey proves that this isn’t necessarily the case.

“It also demonstrates the value of having real competition in the energy market and shows there’s a place for smaller players. It’s the smaller companies like us who are leading the way!”

While Chippenham-based Good Energy has welcomed the news that its customers have scored it so highly, Juliet says she is not complacent about customer service.

“We think we can do even better and we’ve a number of ideas that we’re implementing this year that we hope will help raise the stakes even higher. These include developing and improving our on-line customer service.”

Ms Davenport said: “It’s worth noting that while Good Energy is not the cheapest energy supplier, we’re by no means the most expensive.

"We’ve frozen our prices until the end of March and Which? has scored us as delivering great value for money.

“We match every unit of electricity we buy with 100 per cent renewable electricity, and we reckon it takes the average customer no more the five minutes to switch to us. And we offer simple, easy to understand tariffs.

“Given our latest top rating from Which? we think these factors add up to a compelling reason to make 2014 the year to switch for good.”

Good Energy Group plc is listed on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange and all its electricity is 100 per cent matched with electricity sourced from renewable energy, backed by Renewable Energy Guarantee of Origin certificates (REGOs), over the course of 12 months.
