Wiltshire Council says it had no alternative but to pass on the loss of government cash to Stepping Stones and three other specialist nurseries in the county

Wiltshire Council says it had no alternative but to pass on the loss of government cash to Stepping Stones and three other specialist nurseries in the county.

Matthew Look, lead commissioner for disabled children, said: “We recognise the excellent work that is being carried out by these charities and it is excellent they are able to add value by raising money with the help of the community. We are pleased to continue their level of funding at the same rate as last year – minus the central government grant.”

The council reviewed the service and feedback from parents and professionals had shown they were happy with it.

But he said the council did not have the resource to make up the shortfall left by the withdrawal of the government grant. The decision was made by officers and did go to committee for approval.

He said the council is funding the centres for three years, but there is no guarantee on how much cash will be given beyond 2014/15.

Plenty of money for Jane Scott and her Cabinet, and for members' allowances though. I guess we know where the priorities are.

'But he said the council did not have the resource to make up the shortfall'

Once again... SHAME ON YOU JANE SCOTT, you are the leader of Wiltshire Council where 'Everybody Matters', make an executive decision, you're paid for it, tell the Councillors they're not having their increase, then put the money towards the shortfalls. Simple. Earn yourself some public respect.

When a Council Leader considers herself more important than Facilities for Disabled Children, the time HAS come for Jane Scott to be Formally asked to Resign.....

It is pointless "taking decisions to committees" at County Hall because the Conservative Majority on virtually all Committees is WHY the Cuts are happening.....

The Budget Funding that Wiltshire gets is NOT being used appropriately and adequately and has NOT been since Jane Scott became "leader".....

If she cannot Supply the Services we pay for, then she SHOULD go be asked to Resign and let someone else who REALLY cares about Wiltshire, spend the Budgets wisely and for the People and NOT for the Conservative Party "image" in Wiltshire.....We stop INSIST now that Jane Scott STOPS paying out for ANY Corporate Hospitality as well as ANY Grants that she decides to dish out just to make herself look "good".....

We ALL want to know now, exactly how much down to the very last £ that Jane Scott and her "Cons-Cab" HAVE received from Westminster since the Conservatives "won" the Wiltshire Elections.....

Ms Scott needs Formally reminding that Wiltshire Council IS a Public Service and NOT her own "Business Empire"....

Stepping Stones struggling to fund a key service for pre school special needs children. A key time not only for children but for parents who need that crucial support perhaps at a time of diagnosis helping parents work their way through the support services and access the right support.
It does seem curious just when the Council is launching its 0 to 25 year Service for Special Educational Needs Children and their families. Wiltshire have been selected to champion this new joined up service to make the lives of children and young people better.
Interesting though when an Opportunity Group for children some of whom are profoundly disabled have been cut! Dont understand this Council anymore. I am sure sacking a few of the Commissioners will free up some money 50 to 70K will fund a lot of provision on the ground!!

Suggest Jane Scott and her "Cons-Cab" dip into the £50 MILLION that they have been Awarded by the Government for "planning/new homes" ???.....

After all, they ONLY use this type of cash to build Homes that very few can actually afford ...

If Wiltshire Council want to become Estate Agents, then let their Conservative Cabinet resign and start up their own "business empires" well away from our County.....

Cutting Funding for Nurseries IS an absolute insult when Ms Scott & Co consistently waste tax payers money and Government Funding on their own Politically motivated "projects"......

"Health & Well Being" does NOT include over the top Allowance Rises and Corporate Hospitality and excessive W/C Corporate Credit Card spending.....

Wiltshire's money IS it's own and NOT Jane Scott's to spend on what she "wants|.....
