Health chiefs in Wiltshire say they are planning to provide more care in the community and are consulting on their plans.

Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) are holding public meetings to explain their five year plan which sets out how more care can be provided at home or in the community.

This comes following recent comments by Simon Stevens, chief executive of NHS England, about providing more care in the community.

Dr Stephen Rowlands, chairman of Wiltshire CCG, said: “The next five years will be a period of change for healthcare services in Wiltshire.

"Our five-year plan is all about supporting people to live healthy, independent lives in their own homes and communities. We need to keep people out of hospital as much as possible and we will need people to take more responsibility for their own health and the health of others to help us do this.

“I would encourage anyone with an interest in healthcare to come along to one of our public meetings if they want to understand what these changes will mean for them and their local NHS services.”

Public meetings are on Tuesday (June 10) at Warminster Civic Centre from 10am to 12noon, on Wednesday (June 11) at Salisbury Guildhall from 6pm to 8pm and on Monday June 16 at the Corn Exchange, Devizes, from 7pm to 9pm.

where is this care in the community you already say exists for mental health , it doesnt not due to the mental health team but due to cutbacks Green Lane Hospital in Devizes was built with 3 wards and 3 rehab houses what is on that site now 1 ward the other 2 are closed one used fir the so called Crisis Team and the other empty and the rehab houses offices so if you are deemed as needing in patient . Try getting help if you need to you have to be assessed for that and if they dntfeel your need is great ypu get sent back to doctors but if you have psychosis due to drink or drugs you are a priority , dont know when when others with genuine mental health issues are put in 2nd place behind these people all wrong you dont even get trained staff looking after you in the community any more you get untrained support workers who visit you and watch your tv then cant handle it when you are distressed and leave you stranded and even tries to cover there backs by saying things that are blatantly false as they havent checked the facts thats the truth of the care in the community here .
