Shoppers in Wiltshire could find themselves off to a prestigious event at TV’s Downton Abbey, after three golden tickets were hidden across the county.

Three pairs of tickets to Heroes for Highclere, a commemorative concert at the location for the hit ITV show, have been hidden in Oxfam stores in Chippenham, Marlborough and Salisbury.

The event takes place on Sunday August 3 at Highclere Castle in Newbury, to commemorate the centenary of the First World War and raise funds for Oxfam, the Royal British Legion, Combat Stress and ABF the Soldiers Charity.

Each participating shop will have one golden envelope hidden somewhere on the shop floor. In total 25 pairs of tickets have been hidden in stores across the south west.

The day-long event will include live musical entertainment, a celebrity football match, fairground rides, aerial displays, hot air balloon rides and vintage shopping.

Mark Goldring, Oxfam’s Chief Executive will be attending and said “We are extremely grateful to the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon for choosing Oxfam as their humanitarian charity partner for this year’s event.

"It’s exciting to be part of this event in the setting where Downton Abbey is filmed and to have the opportunity to fundraise for Oxfam’s humanitarian programme."

At the event, Oxfam and the Department for International Development (DFID) will be showcasing their work with an interactive humanitarian camp set up on site.

Visitors will be able to meet humanitarian staff, explore equipment used in the field, play interactive games and learn more about current efforts to assist more than one million people affected by the conflict in Syria.

Oxfam will also host a vintage charity shop at the event with a range of vintage clothing, second hand books, antiques and collectables.

The golden tickets go into Oxfam shops today, with more details available at www.oxfam.org.uk/downton.

Tickets are also on sale and cost £25 through the Highclere Castle website, but do not include admission to the castle itself.

All proceeds will be donated to Oxfam and the three other charities.
