THREE people have died in a crash on the A350 near Semington.

The incident took place shortly before 5.45am this morning  and involved a silver Volvo S80 travelling towards Westbury from the Melksham direction.

The vehicle left the carriageway and collided with a hedge before catching on fire.

All three occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.

The A350 between the Semington roundabout and Stony Gutter is closed and unlikely to be reopened for several hours.

There is limited local access to Keevil.

Motorists are being asked to avoid the area until further notice.

Police want to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicle before the collision occurred.

Surely it's time for signage on this stretch of road to highlight the number of accidents that have occurred. We continually hear of serious incidents around stoney gutter, and this awful accident only shows how dangerous this road is.

at that time of day in the dry and daylight, with no one else involved we need to wait to find out what actually happened before condemning the road. Extremely sad for everyone involved and shows how we should never take life for granted.
