The popular bee and honey day returns to picturesque Lacock Abbey this weekend.

The event, organised by the Melksham Bee Keepers Association, is a quintessentially English day out and will be taking place on Sunday in the beautiful Botanic Garden.

With stunning seasonal flower borders, as well as a specifically designed bee-border to attract the busy animals, there is something of interest for all the family.

With activities and fun for all ages, visitors can have a look at an extensive display of bee keeping equipment and information put together by the knowledgeable members of one of Melksham’s largest societies. There will be demonstrations and children can have a go at ‘make and take’ activities and candle rolling.

The experience is rounded off with delicious refreshment stalls, including a hog roast, and cake and drinks.

"The Bee and honey day is a lovely, relaxing event which we enjoy hosting each year," said Sue Carter, head gardener at the National Trust property. "The enthusiasm of the bee-keepers really shines through and makes it such a great day."

Bee and honey day, with the Melksham Beekeepers' Association, runs from 10.30am to 4pm.

Normal admission fees apply for entry to the grounds and cloisters. National Trust members and under fives go free.
