WADWORTH Brewery in Devizes has launched two new ales for winter.

The famous Wadworth Shire Horses are the faces of the popular Dray Bells Christmas ale, with the pump clip featuring the loveable horses and their draymen battling through the snow on the Wadworth dray.

“The working shires are an integral part of Wadworth’’ said marketing product manager Ellie Alderton. ‘’They not only represent the traditional skills which are still very much alive at Wadworth, but also embody the traditional values of our family business.’’

“They deliver to our pubs in all weathers throughout the year, ensuring that the locals get their supplies of their favourite ales, and they are a much loved sight on the streets of Devizes.  They really are the heart of Wadworth, and Dray Bells celebrates the important role they play.”

A dark mocha coloured beer full of Christmassy aromas and tastes, orange peel has been added to the brew for a satsuma sweetness, dark brown muscavado sugar adds richness while a spicy trio of cinnamon, nutmeg and all spice impart a warm, zingy tang.

“Think Christmas pudding with chocolaty notes,” said head brewer Brian Yorston. “It’s a perfect warming ale to enjoy beside a roaring fire in a cosy pub”

Another Wadworth classic winter beer, Old Timer is also available  in cask or bottle conditioned 500ml bottles.

This strong, malty seasonal ale has been popular for over 40 years and is still true to the original recipe. Deep chestnut in colour with an abv of 5.8%, it is a deeply satisfying, full bodied pint that is robust in flavour with a smooth finish.

Dray Bells will be available from mid-November through to the end of December, with Old Timer available throughout December and January.
