Essential work to the roof of the older part of County Hall in Trowbridge is being done over the coming months.
Wiltshire Council says there was no evidence of any issues when modernisation work costing £ 24 million started in 2011, but because of bad weather over a number of years, stone tiles are deteriorating – needing the front roof slope to be repaired.
Scaffolding was due to be put up on the building yesterday and the work costing up to £335,000 is due to start on January 23 and be completed by mid-June. No staff will have to be relocated.
The scaffolding has been designed to leave as much of the original main entrance clear for wedding photos.
The small number of parking bays right outside the front of the older part of County Hall will be unavailable.
