WESTBURY Leigh Primary School has been ranked good in a recent Ofsted visit, a vast improvement from previous inspections.

The school, in Sandalwood Road, was branded as needing to improve when it was inspected in February 2013 and was visited again that June.

After the visit on January 22-23, all areas of the school have been judged to have improved. Inspectors were particularly impressed by children’s behaviour and attitude towards lessons as well as an improvement in the quality of teaching.

Headteacher Debbie Grimsey said: “The school has made improvements in almost every area thanks to the hard work of staff who have focused on improving feedback to children and ensuring every child is challenged and supported in their learning.

“I am extremely proud and inspired by the dedication and hard work that staff put into making every day count for the children in our care.

“The children are a delight to teach and aspire to be the best they can be in everything they do – what more could we ask for?”
