Spandau Ballet is to play at Westonbirt Arboretum this summer as part of the Forestry Commission’s Forest Live music series.

Lead singer Tony Hadley said: “We’ve not done a Forest Live gig before so we are really looking forward to seeing you all down in the woods in July.”

Spandau Ballet is one of Britain’s most iconic bands having sold over 25 million records and scored numerous multi-platinum albums across the globe.

The New Romantic revolutionaries established themselves as one of the top groups of the '80s with hits such as Lifeline, Gold, Only When You Leave, I’ll Fly For You, Through The Barricades and True.

After two decades apart, the band reformed in 2009, embarking on a sold-out tour.

Last year saw the critically acclaimed release of the movie ‘Soul Boys of The Western World’, the first time their story has been documented on film.

Forest Live is an independent programme organised by the Forestry Commission to bring woods and forests to new audiences. Income generated from ticket sales is spent on managing this internationally important tree collection.

Over Forest Live’s 14 year history, money raised has contributed to a wide range of projects, from wildlife conservation to making improvements for visitors. With everything required for a great night out, including full catering and bar facilities, the gigs are renowned for their relaxed atmosphere.

Spandau Ballet, with and special guest James Walsh, play at Westonbirt Arboretum, near Tetbury, on Saturday, July 11.

Tickets, priced £46.50 (plus £4.65 booking fee), go on sale on Friday, March 27, from Forestry Commission Box Office tel 03000 680400 or at forestry.gov.uk/music
