The Peto Gardens, Iford Manor, near Lower Westwood, Bradford on Avon.

The idyllic gardens at Iford are open to the public every day except Mondays and Fridays throughout the summer from 2pm. Visit www.ifordmanor.co.uk for more information. The Housekeeper's Tearoom open to all-comers at weekends, serving a range of homemade cakes and bakes, along with our famous range of loose leaf teas.

Saturday and Sunday

Violet Bank Farm, Prospect Road, Bath, opens its gardens to the public from 10.30am and is also taking part in the Widcombe Art Trail. Refreshments and on-street parking on Widcombe Hill. Entry £3. In aid of Dorothy House Hospice.

Bradford on Avon Gardens open for NGS. All within walking distance of Bradford town centre, where there are public car parks, with home-made teas at Horton's House. Combined adm £5, chd free. Gardens open 2-6pm.

Barton Farm, Pound Lane: 14thC home which looks across to Tythe Barn. Walled garden at rear planted principally with flowering shrubs and underplanted with bulbs, primroses and herbaceous plants, particularly those tolerant of dry shade. Recently re-planted.

Horton's House (1496), 15 Church Street: The steeply sloping land of approx one acre is now terraced and planted by owners with orchard and fig trees, roses and plants that love sunny S-facing aspect.

1 Rosemary Walk (next door to Hortons House): Walled, terraced garden, landscaped and planted in 2008. Colour themed beds with a variety of plants and shrubs.

Lynchetts, 15 Woolley Street: garden extends to almost two acres and slopes up hillside. An old tennis court provides a large central level lawn. Few of the original fruit trees remain but many new plantings of old varieties of apples have been made. Among the older trees are mulberry and medlar and more recently quince and figs have been established. Nearer the house is a herbaceous border and small terraced beds. Refreshments available.
