TEMPERATURES are set to stay around 22C today after yesterday's stifling heat.

Met Office forecasters are also warning of showers in Swindon and Wiltshire during this morning, with things getting brighter as the day progresses.

A forecaster said: "Largely cloudy, with thundery rain or showers moving northwards during the morning.

"Becoming drier later in the day and turning increasingly sunny from the west. Maximum temperature 22C."

He said after a fine evening, a clear start to the night would give way to some patchy low cloud.

"It'll be cooler than on recent nights. Minimum Temperature 11C," he added.

Tomorrow looked similar, with a fresh start to the day followed by growing humidity, he said, although temperatures could hit 27C.

MEANWHILE, on the roads, things are running smoothly, with the A419 'running well', according to our live traffic and travel updates.

And on the railways, things have settled after disruption last night, when signal problems, the heat and train faults led to delays in and out of Swindon of up to 30 minutes.
