BRIGHT spells this morning will be replaced by showers as the day progresses, according to the Met Office.

Forecasters are warning of showers heading east this afternoon after a cloudy start this morning, followed by some brighter spells.

"After a rather cloudy start, some bright or sunny spells will likely develop, particularly in the east," said a forecaster. 

"However, low cloud and drizzly rain will spread across Cornwall later in the morning and then extend eastwards through the afternoon.

"Maximum temperature, 21C."

Tonight would see temperatures stay high, at around 17C, he said.

"A damp and muggy night with outbreaks of rain and drizzle and extensive low cloud shrouding the hills," the forecaster added.

"It will also be rather breezy with misty conditions along the coast." 

Tomorrow would see another cloudy, humid day, he added.


MEANWHILE, commuters using the A417 could face delays as the road is closed eastbound due to a bus fire at Daglingworth.

It is closed between Dowers' Lane and the A429 Burford Road, Cirencester. Affecting traffic travelling between Gloucester and Cirencester predominantly but be prepared for congestion on surrounding routes and passing the scene.
