ELEVEN new PCSOs were today (Sept 25) presented with their PCSO powers card by Chief Constable Mike Veale and Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire and Swindon Angus Macpherson.

The ceremony, held at Police Headquarters in Devizes, came after the group, Intake 26, completed their 10-week training course which involved classroom theory sessions, practical sessions and getting out in the community.

PCSO Michael Ramselaar, who will be stationed in Calne, received a special certificate during the ceremony to recognise his extra hard work during the training programme.

He said: "I was really pleased to receive the certificate, I wasn't expecting it at all. Nobody in my family is in the police so this was completely new to me and I wasn't sure what to expect. I was a bit apprehensive, but I've really enjoyed it.

"I think the skills I have gained will really help and I can't wait to get out on my patch now."

The 11 PCSOs are now looking forward to putting their new found skills to good use as they join stations around the county.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chief Constable Mr Veale said: "I love days like this because I get to meet some really fantastic people.

"I remember a very similar day to this when I passed out as a fully fledged police officer at the age of 18 and it was one of the best days of my life.

"I love policing and I love being part of the policing family. Wiltshire Police is one of the smallest, but one of the best forces in the country, and I am incredibly proud of the force.

"It is a very difficult job but I wish you all well - I hope you get out and about, talk to the public, listen to them and work with them as effectively as you can."
