SCHOOL pupils around Wiltshire will be doing their bit for Children in Need today (November 13) by heading to school dressed in superhero costumes or fancy dress.

Spiderman, Batman and Superman are just a few outfits expected to be worn by hundreds of pupils – with most schools asking for a £1 donation towards the annual cause.

Castle Mead Primary in Trowbridge are asking pupils to dress in something yellow or spotty to mimic the much-loved Pudsey bear, while North Bradley pupils will be dressing up as people that are their heroes.

Paxcroft Primary pupils will dress in their pyjamas and The Mead’s Wingfield and Hilperton bases will also see the school council run a cake sale after school.

Active Trowbridge are also contributing towards the annual fundraiser by sending Trowbridge Ted out and about to visit schools, nurseries and toddler groups throughout the day.

In Bradford on Avon, the town’s council staff will be putting on a homemade cake sale in their offices, while dressing up as Willy Wonka, Dennis the Menace, Barbie and Batman.

St Laurence School are following suit with the student council holding a cake sale and the entire school is having a non-uniform day.

Fitzmaurice Primary School and Churchfields Monkton Farleigh Base will see pupils donning costumes from the DC and Marvel Universe, and Westwood with Iford School will have a non-uniform day.

River Mead School in Melksham is having a pirate themed day and will nominate a teacher to walk the plank into a paddling pool, with each child donating £1.

Pupils from Forest and Sandridge School will come into school in Onesies or pyjamas and will also be able to buy cakes at break time.

Aleoric Primary are going to be doing a variety of activities, including the children dressing up in Pudsey outfits, selling Pudsey ears, doing a bear’s picnic, a treasure hunt and nature ramble.

Several other schools are doing non-uniform days, such as Melksham Oak, Shaw Primary and Manor Primary.

In Warminster, Kingdown School will be holding a non-uniform day and Sambourne Primary School will be encouraging pupils to wear silly socks to raise money.

Matravers School in Westbury will also have a non-uniform day as well as a bake sale and Westbury Leigh Primary School will see children Pudsey-fy themselves and have the chance to take part in a raffle.
