A TEAM of six Wiltshire firefighters took a gold medal and won third place overall in the national Three Peaks Challenge.

They were taking part in the annual event, which involves climbing the three highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales in less than 24 hours, to raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity.

The team was made up of crew manager Bob Waller, Richard Thwaites, Steve Taylor and physical training instructor Jack Mitchell, all from Trowbridge, Mark Taylor from Marlborough and Kieron Humphries from Warminster.
