WINSLEY-based Dorothy House will help celebrate its 40th birthday with a concert and service of thanksgiving at Bath Abbey on Thursday.

The event is open to everyone as a way of thanks to people in Wiltshire for their continued support of the charity's work in the community.

The concert and service will celebrate the legacy of Prue Dufour's work in setting up Dorothy House Hospice Care and organisers hope it will also be an opportunity to remember loved ones who have been cared for by the hospice.

Musicians and singers from across the region have offered to take part, giving their time for free including renowned local composer, music teacher and choir director, Tim Parker has composed a special piece of music for this event called 'Folded Wings' which will be performed by The Dorothy House Quartet.

Dorothy House chief executive John Davies said: "It’s a real privilege to be able to mark 40 years of Dorothy House Hospice Care with a beautiful thanksgiving service at the abbey. Since 1976, the hospice has cared for many people in Bath and the surrounding area. This has only been made possible by the immense generosity of the community who have made Dorothy House the special place it is today. This is a great opportunity to thank everyone, take stock of what has been achieved and to look forward to our next 40 years."

Doors open at 7pm while the concert starts at 7.30pm. Entry is free to all and no tickets are required.
