OPERATION Christmas Child organisers are still searching for a base from where they can operate as this year's drop-off period approaches.

People will be able to drop their shoe boxes filled with toys, stationery and toiletries off at several locations across Wiltshire between November 1 and November 18, but organisers are on the hunt for a base they can work from for an eight week period.

Wiltshire Area Coordinator Steve Lloyd said: “We’re starting to get a bit twitchy now, we have everything in place and ready to go apart from a warehouse.

“Quite a few people have been in touch to they would like to volunteer since last week’s article in the paper and we have things like tables and transport sorted but it’s just the warehouse space we still require.

“I’m waiting to hear back from a few business but they’re not definitely going to be able to give up their premises for the eight weeks we need, so please do get in touch if you can help.”

Last year, 32,000 boxes were sent out from Wiltshire and organisers are hoping to send out a total of 36,000 this year.
