AN urgent recall notice has been issued by a cot and children’s bed manufacturer following the death of a baby.
Playtime Beds, which produced bespoke cots, beds, bunkbeds, triple and quadruple beds, has warned parents to stop using its beds immediately.
The urgent recall is believed to be linked to the sudden death of a seven-month-old at a property in York.
Playtime Beds once sold their beds with the message: "Here at Playtime Beds Ltd we manufacture children's dream bespoke beds that we wish we had when we were kids complete with safety and practicality in mind."
But Trading Standards officers warned that beds made by the Sheffield-based firm could put youngsters at risk of “asphyxiation or strangulation, falling, entrapment or crushing”.
They launched a probe with North Yorkshire Police and a 35-year-old – believed to be company owner Craig Williams – has been questioned.
Trading Standards said: “If you think you may have one of these beds – stop using it immediately. For more information call Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline on 03454 040506.
“Please share this information with friends, relatives, neighbours and on social media.”
