Meet the volunteers

WILTSHIRE Air Ambulance’s volunteers – called GroundCrew – play a vital role in helping to keep the vital service flying and saving lives.

They help raise awareness of the charity by attending events that raise money, giving talks, working in the charity’s shops in Westbury and Devizes, distributing collection boxes and sorting and distributing the 30,000 Christmas cards that go on sale each year.

Volunteer Sally Jenkinson, of Calne, says: “There’s such a lovely group of volunteers at Wiltshire Air Ambulance, we have great fun.

“I usually try and volunteer once a month, but there is no pressure to a do a set number of hours.

“We all do what we can, when we can.”

Rob Faulkner, of Swindon, became a volunteer 18 months ago and says: “I am proud to be part of the Wiltshire Air Ambulance family and you really feel that you are making a difference and helping to save lives.”

The charity says their volunteers are their heroes and make a massive difference by saving them time and money.

However, they could always do with more volunteers and would love people who are interested in joining their GroundCrew to get in touch with them.
